Element and A Loft Hotel: Early Renderings

Element and A Loft Hotel: Early Renderings
A new two-flag hotel is being proposed downtown, directly across the street from Banker’s Life Fieldhouse. This lot featured a different hotel proposal before the market crash. The hotel is being designed by Ratio, across the street from their headquarters. The renderings of the new hotel are included on the IHPC Staff Report, and I’ve included some of them below: What do you...

Georgia Street Programming

Georgia Street Programming
The Georgia Street transformation has been completed for a few years now, so it’s a good time to look at how the public space is faring.  This was an exciting project when it was first announced, but there was a major issue with its sustained success: most of the buildings that faced it had never really taken advantage of foot traffic.  I’m not sure if that aspect has changed that much in the past 2 years.  However, with the Indy Star taking over the top 2 floors of the former Nordstrom Space, there is hope that they will be able to open up the building a bit. Georgia Street Update 5

Georgia Street Update 5

Georgia Street Update 3
As promised, when significant visual changes occur, I will be here to post some new photographs showing the changes. I stopped by on 4/26/2011 and snapped a few photos in the late afternoon of the latest progress. I do not know what all of this structure functions as, but it looks a bit like railroad ties to me at this point in time. Wishful thinking I suppose. Georgia Street Update 2

Georgia Street Update 2
On March 31st, I authored the first post on the Georgia Street progress. This is the newest update and the photos were taken on April 19th. We can see that backfilling has occured against the structure in the ground. Additionally, some new concrete pieces have been placed and there is a large pile of other concrete columns that look like they are going to be placed soon. Once there is more significant progress, I will post another update. For now, check out the photos and the ones from Update...
