A large portion of the Southside has received a grant from Local Initiatives Support Coalition. A map of the region is posted below, as it is bounded by Meridian, Raymond, I-65, and I-465:
Notice there are 2 large community assets in this neighborhood: Garfield Park and University of Indianapolis. Garfield Park is set to receive some new interactive sculptures, courtesy of Big Car:
As for the University of Indianapolis, they’re setting their sites on a large redevelopment plan of their own, centered around the proposed Health Services Center:

Tomorrow, Garfield Park is hosting a Better Blocks event, where residents collaborate with urbanists to activate streets. This is the second year the neighborhood is hosting this event. Last year, Graeme Sharpe and I attended the Better Blocks event in the Englewood neighborhood and had a great time. I hope to be able to attend this tomorrow. Urban Indy is proud to sponsor an upcoming Jane Jacobs walk in the Garfield Park neighborhood with the Big Car organization. Indy’s version of the nationwide initiative takes place on May 4th at 10 AM. Registration and more information for the event can be found at this website.
