Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) was founded in 1969 as a merger of the Indianapolis satellite campuses of Indiana and Purdue Universities. Today it is a thriving urban university that serves over 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The campus is home to the Indiana University School of Medicine, Indiana’s only medical school and the second largest medical school in the country. Owing to the medical school, IUPUI features a significant concentration of medical research, with four hospitals located on or directly adjacent to campus.
