The Indianapolis Historic Preservation Commission staff reports usually make for interesting viewing for people interested in urban infill proposals coming through the city. The latest one features at least 3 projects of interest to Urban Indy.
Ransom Place:
A reprisal of the development that I reported on during our last IHPC quick hits post, the proposal at Martin Luther King and St. Clair has been downsized a bit, but the overall project quality looks improved:
St. Joseph:
A major victory here, as the new proposed 5 story building will have walk-up apartments and retail in place of interior...

Variances related to setbacks, parking space size and a bank drive-through were heard by the Board of Zoning Appeals II yesterday and were approved. Today, the Plat Committee will hear a case...

Here’s what I’ve come across in Metropolitan Development Commission (MDC) and Indianapolis Historic Preservation Commission (IHPC) filings as of 12/7/11 (click links to read staff reports on these cases):
1. IHPC 12/7/11 – Harry & Izzy’s proposes an all-seasons outdoor seating area adjacent to the recently completed Georgia St. pedestrian walkway. They want to get the seating area in place in time for the Super Bowl but the structure wrapping around the NE corner of Georgia and Illinois would be permanent. Staff recommends approval.
2. IHPC 12/7/11 – A developer...
