Overlook at the Fairgrounds

Last week, I had a chance to meet with Gary Hobbs and Wil Marquez, who are key figures behind the effort of transforming a former candy factory into a mixed-use building. Â Located to the east of Fall Creek along 38th Street, this looks to be an exciting project that will inject new life into the neighborhood.
The siteplan plans to take advantage of the building’s location next to the Fall Creek Trail and the State Fairgrounds. The building is located at the southeast corner of this aerial photo:

Bikeshare Launch!

Many of us have eagerly awaited the arrival of Indy’s own bikeshare program. Discussions have been going on for what seems like years (literally) and recently, we were finally given details for the stations and bikes.
Today, April 22, 2014, officially marks the launch date of the Indiana Pacers Bikeshare. I was a proud volunteer to help distribute hundreds of bikeshare bikes to their assigned stations in the hours leading up to the ribbon cutting at 10:00 am by Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Bush Stadium Redevelopment

Once one of the most interesting redevelopment dilemmas in the city, Bush Stadium has been successfully saved and converted into apartments. Â This old home of the Indianapolis Indians was counted as down and almost out, but it is breathing with new life. Â Last week I had a chance to snap some photos of the southwest section, which can be seen here:

Today, the City, behind Mayor Greg Ballard, announced a new downtown district which represents the culmination of years of work and a number of recent project announcements. Roughly bounded to the north by New York Street, to the south by the railroad tracks, to the west by Delaware Street and to the east by, well, East Street, Market East will provide a unique setting among Indy’s existing cultural districts.

Monon Pointe

Another day, another post about a new Chipotle in Indianapolis. This building replaces a former stand-alone liquor store in Broad Ripple, and it appears to be successful for the most part. Â And, yes, it will also house a Chipotle, just like the last post that I made.
