Indy Connect may not have succeeded at the State House this year, but that has not stopped them from attempting to move forward with Bus Rapid Transit options for Indianapolis. Â Here is the schedule for the next round of public meetings, discussing potential Red, Green, and Blue Line routes:

Urban Indy has obtained renderings of the revised mixed use development being proposed for the former Shell station (and neighboring apartment buildings) on the north side of the Central Canal in Broad Ripple.
Initial renderings of the project, which we aired in April, resulted in an uproar from residents and business owners of Broad Ripple. Browning Investments, the developer of the now (up to) 100 unit apartment & retail complex, went back to the drawing boards after the initial renderings were released. Keep Indianapolis Beautiful is hosting a walking tour tomorrow at 7 pm to commence the recent opening of 4 projects in the Mapelton-Fall Creek neighborhood:
Urban Indy posted about 2 of these projects a year ago. Â Central Avenue, as well as small segments of 29th and 30th Streets, are now 2-way streets within the neighborhood, so it is a good time to discover some of the other work that has taken place...

If you have traveled the stretch of Illinois Street north of 16th street that is being repaved, you have undoubtedly observed that new lines have been painted on the new pavement. We previously reported that this would be the site of Indy’s first buffered bike lane and true to that, the new striping reflects that!
Jamison Hutchins, Bicycle & Pedestrian Coordinator with DPW, sent along this image today showing what to expect north of 22nd street (all the way to 32nd) once work is completed on the bridge over Fall Creek sometime next year.

The following photos were received from DPW this morning. These were taken at 71st & Cross Key but the idea is the same for all 3 boxes on the north side bike route.
We previously reported on these and how they were not painted. The unpainted box is shown below from our original report.
According to Jamison Hutchins at DPW, the intent was to have them striped green from the beginning, the material simply was not available when the outlines were painted. Glad to see that they have been painted. Happy...
