Northeast corner. Unlike many inner-city corners built on 2 relatively minor streets, this one is pretty well activated, and only has one empty building. But it's a decent-looking one:
One block east on 40th, there is a former Masonic Hall. These places are all built to last forever:

I would love to see that building at 42nd and Boulevard without the siding. That brick facade on the first floor is such a tease!
I used to go to an open mic cafe that used to be there (40th and Boulevard); it was called United States of Mind I believe...
That place was great! I only went once, but had a good time. The sign on the window says that there's a pool hall there now.

I just drove through here recently. It looks like the barber shop business is doing well there, I think I saw three? Commercial pockets like these give neighborhoods an identity. Nice blog btw!
